NFL executives voted Steelers president Art Rooney II the SPORTING NEWS' 2005 George Young NFL Executive of the Year. Rooney succeeded his father, Dan, as president in 2002 and has been a guiding force behind the scenes for one of pro football's steadiest franchises.
Rooney received 13 votes from a group of 58 front office executives and edged Seahawks president of football operations Tim Ruskell, who got 12. Another Steelers executive, director of football operations Kevin Colbert, had seven votes.
