The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. has agreed to pay $430 million to settle federal and state charges that one of its divisions fraudulently promoted the drug Neurontin for an array of unapproved uses.
In a May 13 statement, the Justice Department said Warner-Lambert Co. used various schemes to encourage physicians to prescribe Neurontin, which was only approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a supplemental anti-seizure medication for epileptics, for ailments including bipolar...
