In the midst of the running national debate on gun control, I've fallen for a guy who is a gun dealer. He also owns an indoor range where people shoot pistols, rifles and even machine guns (legal in most states) at targets featuring Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
My boyfriend, Chris, and I live in different parts of the country--and to some extent, different states of mind. We knew each other in high school in Georgia, before he joined the Navy and I left to pursue literary life in New York. When we reconnected 25 years later, down a rural road in the new Deep South, cultural differences were part of the attraction. But the gun issue is our Mason-Dixon line....
