KAOHSIUNG, April 3 Asia Pulse - The Kaohsiung city government announced a plan Friday to turn Chichin Island -- situated just west of Kaohsiung Harbor -- into a major tourist resort.
Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Cheng Wen-lung said the city government has set aside an initial budget of NT$120 million (US$3.7 million) to add more tourist facilities to the island.
He said the first-stage of the project includes building a park and a street created by artists, improving the road leading to Tienhou Temple, adding more street lights and relocating Chichin's administrative center.
