SEOUL, April 3 Asia Pulse - South Korea's tobacco monopoly KT&G Corp. (KSE:033780) showed brisk exports to Central Asia and the Middle East in the first quarter of the year due to high overseas demand for its ultra slim brand Esse, the company said Monday.

The company's entire overseas shipments during the January-March period rose 9.2 per cent from a year earlier to 5.5 billion cigarettes.

Overseas shipments of the company's Esse brand amounted to 1.7 billion cigarettes during the period, up 77.9 per cent from the same quarter of last year.
