NEW YORK, April 3 Asia Pulse - Aided by normal monsoon as well as structural changes and reforms, India and other South Asian countries were able to maintain their growth momentum last year despite rising oil prices.
On the basis of sustained high economic growth, India is increasingly becoming a major contributor to global growth, according to a report by the Social and Economic Commission for Asia and Pacific
"In addition to an almost normal harvest in 2005, the strong responsiveness of the private sector to emerging opportunities has sustained the growth in both industry and service," it said.
Both India and Pakistan, it projected, would be able to maintain their current momentum this year. All the three main sectors - agriculture, industry and services - are expected to contribute to the healthy growth ...
