SYDNEY, April 3 Asia Pulse - The Australian dollar opened the week almost unchanged, despite the US dollar wavering against the yen and euro over the weekend.
The release of a Japanese business sentiment survey will be the focus for the local market today.
At 0700 AEST, the local unit was trading at $US0.7160/64, above Friday's close of 0.7163/67.
Over the weekend, it reached a low of $US0.7110 and a high of 0.7174.
ABN AMRO head of foreign exchange trading Rick Lloyd said the Bank of Japan's quarterly tankan economic survey will be the highlight of the day.
"Things are pretty quiet ahead of that but it should give the (local) dollar some direction, and it will probably be the biggest influence on the currency today," he said.
The tankan will be released at 0950 AEST.
