Your November article "Digital Video Recording" opened with the statement that DVDs have replaced videos as the "medium of choice" for prerecorded video. I feel it should be added that the "choice" was forced upon consumers by the very rapid and widespread disappearance of VHS tape recordings from retail and catalog outlets regardless of customer preference. I resent being manipulated into spending money on a technological device when I've been perfectly satisfied with the older technology.

In the "Cable vs. Satellite" report in November there was no mention of the No. 1 reason that I switched from satellite to cable. Namely, that satellite programming, except for the local channels, is broadcast on Eastern time schedules. This means that "prime time" starts around 4 p.m. on the West Coast instead of 7 p.m. So with satellite, you have to have a DVR if you want to watch the best programming destined for prime time.
