Kimberly Boyd, a Paulding County, Georgia, woman, was carjacked when she was heading to work on September 12. Though she fought her attacker throughout her ordeal, she died as a result of the multiple injuries she sustained.
Police have deduced that shortly after 9 a.m., Boyd was abducted from near her business by Brian Clark, a repeat felon. About 9:30 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls from motorists reporting that a woman was fighting with a man in an SUV that he was driving down the highway. At nearly the same time as the calls were made to the police, Shawn Roberts, another motorist, saw Boyd's SUV stopped alongside the highway. Clark and Boyd were outside the vehicle, and Clark was beating her.
Roberts, according to police corporal Dana Pierce, speaking to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "stopped and turned around on the four-lane road to help the woman.... The carjacker pushed [Boyd] back into the SUV and took off, with the doors still open. Roberts followed about two miles." Then Clark turned into the path of a cement truck, causing an accident.
Roberts got out of his vehicle with a gun and ran to the wreck. As he moved toward the scene, Clark attempted to flee on foot. In an attempt to get Clark to stop, Roberts yelled, "Stay where you are." Clark ...
