Racism in the schools.

Between 1980 and 1990, the white population in the United States grew less than 6 percent, the black population 13.2 percent, the Hispanic population 53 percent and the Asian population 108 percent. It is projected that within the next 50 years, the "average" U.S. resident will trace his or her descent to Africa, Asia, a Spanish-speaking nation or the Arab world -- almost anywhere, in fact, but Europe.

Across the country, the public school population is already one-third minority. In fact, 52 of the largest school systems in the country are majority/minority systems.

But statistics indicate that blacks are dropping out of high school at a rate of one out of four, Hispanics at one out of three, and whites at one out of seven. Indeed, only 52 percent of black males and 41 percent of Hispanic males finish high school.
