Adolescents fear confidentiality of health care could be broken.

Most adolescents taking a survey on confidentiality said they had health issues they want to keep private, and one in four said they would not seek health care if their parents might find out. Out of a total of 1,295 high school students, 57.9 percent said they had health concerns they would not want their parents to know about, and 68.5 percent said they had concerns they kept from their friends. Atotal of 25.3 percent would forgo health care if parents might find out, and 15.4 percent if friends or teachers might find out. Although 64.4 percent of the students said that they had a doctor they could trust, they would still be less likely to go to the doctor for a big concern, …
