MARIA BARTIROMO, CNBC ANCHOR: Well, despite at 100 point sell-off today, the stock market is actually having the best two month start to the New Year since 1998. Take a look at the chart showing the percent changes right now on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and you will see 2006 coming in the best showing since `98. The Dow in 1998 was up just over 8 percent. And then the Dow Jones Industrial Average year-to-date is also showing a gain even though today we are seeing a decline of 95 points. The bulls and bears discussing this as we continue....
