SOUTH Korea's STX Pan Ocean has taken a giant step towards business diversification with the launch of two petrochemical product carriers built by its affiliate STX Shipbuilding.
STX Ace 1 and STX Ace 2, launched on February 26, are the first of five 46,000 dwt product carriers ordered at the shipbuilding arm of STX Corp. The remaining three vessels are slated for delivery by February 2007.
STX Pan Ocean also has ambitious plans to expand its oil tanker fleet from the current 14 to 30 by 2010, at which time the company aims to achieve overall revenues of $5bn a year.
