HONG Kong-based Zhen Hua Engineering has registered its interest in developing and operating a seaport in Indonesia's Banten province, writes Mike Grinter in Hong Kong.
Reports cited Sea Transportation director general Hastjarja Harijogi as saying that Zhen Hua had put an offer on the table of US$203m to develop the Bojonegoro International Seaport, substantiating claims that the project had not been abandoned.
Reports that construction of the planned deepwater port had been indefinitely postponed were denied by the head of the Investment Co-ordinating Agency, Mohammad Lufti, on February 5. 'The president has issued a decision on it and declared it is a strategic project,' Mr Kufti said at the time.
