LITHUANIAN shortsea operator Kursiu Linija has continued its regional expansion with a new service between the Swedish container port Ahus and Germany's Bremerhaven and Hamburg, writes Jerry Frank.

The lo-lo link with south-east Sweden's largest boxship terminal will also call at Klaipeda in Lithuania.

The 374-teu, 1991-built Passaden and the 510-teu, 1995-built Atlantic Comet will be deployed on the Ahus route.

The link will be the only lo-lo service offering 45 ft pallet-wide high cube and curtainsided containers between Sweden and the Baltic states.

The company will also set up an office in Sweden, a move that comes just a month after it opened an office in Riga.
