THE Sohmen family's BW Group has taken this week's spending to almost $700m with an order for two VLCCs in China, writes Tony Gray .
BW, which houses the family's Bergesen and World-Wide Shipping interests, has placed the contract for two 320,000 dwt vessels with Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry.
The vessels, which will be delivered in 2009 and 2010, will be the largest tankers ever built in China.
The contract price was not disclosed but a VLCC costs about $120m.
