SYDNEY, Feb 28 Asia Pulse - Government spending came to the rescue of economic growth in the December quarter in the absence of a notable pick-up in export volumes, while slowing growth in imports indicates private sector spending is still sluggish.
On the eve of the publication of the quarterly national accounts, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has kept alive expectations of a solid increase gross domestic product (GDP) with news that government spending rose strongly in the quarter.
