WORK STARTS ON CONSTRUCTION OF AFGHAN KHOST-GARDEZ HIGHWAY.
KHOST CITY, March 1 Asia Pulse - Reconstruction work was launched on the 98-kilometre Khost - Gardez Highway here on Tuesday. The project will be completed at the cost of US$6.8 million.
Governors of Khost and Paktia provinces, PRT officials and local elders attended the work inauguration function. Addressing the ceremony, senior commander of the US-led provincial reconstruction team (PRT) Colonel Dannue said construction of the road would boost security in the region as well as improve economic condition of the people by providing a transit route. He added the coalition forces would help Afghan police and army to maintain security of the highways.
