CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2006--Camstar Systems, Inc, a leading provider of enterprise manufacturing execution and quality management systems, today announced that SCHOTT Electronics, a pre-eminent electronic packaging manufacturer based in Landshut, Germany, has implemented Camstar's InSite(TM) application suite to manage production at its advanced semiconductor wafer level packaging plant in Singapore. SCHOTT Electronics is a global developer, manufacturer and distributor of materials and components for maximum protection of sensitive electronic components. Technology Resources Group (TR Group), one of the top system integrators for the high technology automation industry and a Camstar strategic partner, led the deployment and delivered a smooth and rapid 90-day rollout.
"Our wafer level packaging is a very sophisticated, high value, and complex process with zero tolerance for errors," said Klaus Muecke, Managing Director of Schott Advanced Packaging. "We knew from day one that we needed a completely configurable and flexible web-based system built on modern technology. It had to have robust tracking and traceability, integrated SPC, and an open technology for easy integration to our ERP system. Camstar and InSite had everything that we were looking for in the MES system."
Today, the application is already in production at the plant, where operators enter or barcode wafer and parametric data through the browser-based user interfaces that are configured to match their work procedures. Data feeds the online SPC charts that monitor processes real-time. In the next phase, much of the data will be collected directly from the equipment, and future plans include integrating InSite with SAP.
The three-month implementation was impressively short and extremely smooth. Local engineers from TR Group worked onsite with SCHOTT Electronics engineers to educate and help adapt InSite to the company's specific manufacturing needs. "This was undoubtedly a very effective way of implementing such a system," said Georg Sparschuh, Production Manager at SCHOTT Advanced Packaging. "We really highly appreciate all the efforts of TR Group."
"We are very pleased with SCHOTT Electronics' rapid success," said Scott Toney, president and CEO of Camstar. "Camstar's standards-based solution, open ERP integration adapters and professional services through our strategic partner, TR Group, allow companies like SCHOTT Electronics to quickly bring up complex manufacturing processes, and run them smoothly while improving yield and traceability."
