CANBERRA, Mar 1 Asia Pulse - Price controls on Telstra's (ASX:TLS) basic retail line rental product and internet dial-up calls came into force yesterday.
Australia's Communications Minister Helen Coonan announced the controls in December last year to ensure price parity between city and country areas, but they came into effect Tuesday.
Under the controls, the price for the basic line rental service to residential customers will remain frozen at its level on December 31, 2005, of A$31.95 (US$23.72) until June 30, 2007, and after that only increase at the rate of inflation.
