DETROIT, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- The Michigan Treasury Department sent out 2005 tax bills to nearly 9,000 people who avoided paying state taxes by buying their smokes on the Internet.

The bill is $2 a pack, an average $650 per person, or about $5.9 million, the Detroit Free Press...
