We know when the spring thaw begins: Blades of grass peek out from underneath the gray snow. Their tiny green heads have gathered the strength to break through the frozen, granite-like ground so they can feel the sun. Spring is here--the season of renewal and refreshment. After hibernating during the few frigid months, the earth and its inhabitants--plant, animal and human--emerge to bask in the warmth of the sun.
