Byline: Tina Arceo-Dumlao
FROM the moment the CCP Main Theater curtains went up for "The Musicman at 50," it was very apparent that the birthday concert of Ryan Cayabyab was put together very well.
The show was a feast for the eyes and the ears, starting with the San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, framed by a dramatic set design and playing the first notes of Ryan's Metropop winner, "Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika."
Hajji Alejandro, the original "Kilabot ng mga Kolehiyala" who first sang the song in 1974, proved that a good song does not grow old. Just like a good singer, like Hajji.
Janno Gibbs then made an entrance and introduced himself as "Mr. C." He gave the audience an idea of how he writes a song, like "Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka."
