SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - KTF Co., South Korea's second-largest mobile phone operator, said Monday net income for the third-quarter fell 11.9 per cent from a year ago as it spent more in marketing in the saturated market.
In the three months ended Sept. 30, net income was 91.7 billion won (US$81.8 million), compared to 104 billion won a year ago, the company said in a statement to the Korea Stock Exchange. Sales, excluding contributions from handset sales, rose 10.6 per cent to 1.16 trillion won.
Third-quarter operating profit, or earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), also declined 25.3 per cent from a year earlier to 154 billion won.
Overall sales, which include contributions from handset sales, rose 1.1 per cent from a year ago to 1.4 trillion won, the company said.
