SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - South Korea is expected to remain the world's biggest recipient of ship orders for two years in a row this year, a British research firm said Monday.
Ship orders obtained by South Korean shipbuilders were 14.1 million compensated gross tons (CGTs), topping the list in the first three quarters of this year and accounting for 41.1 percent of the global market, according to Clarkson Research.
Japan took second place with 8 million CGTs, or 23.3 per cent of the market, followed by Europe with 6 million CGTs, or 17.5 percent and China with 4.7 million CGTs, or 13.7 per cent.
Ship orders for South Korea increased 3.7 per cent for the nine months, while those for Japan decreased 10.1 per cent during the same period.
