TAIPEI, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - Taiwan's balance of payments for the third quarter of this year was about US$1.855 billion, down from both Q1 and Q2 levels, a spokesman for the Central Bank of China (CBC) reported.
Citing the newest statistics compiled by the CBC, the spokesman said the figure represented a fall from the Q1 level of US$21.1 billion, an historical quarterly high.
It was also smaller than the Q2 level of US$3.05 billion, he said.
The CBC official attributed the lacklustre performance for the July-September period to a smaller net influx of foreign capital due to a sluggish stock market and mediocre growth in the foreign trade surplus registered by the country as a whole.
Capital outflows in the third quarter were quite obvious compared to the Q2 capital movement, he noted.
