SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - North Korea criticized Saturday a top U.S. envoy here over his recent remarks warning South Koreans against having rosy expectations for an inter-Korean economic project.
Uriminzokkiri, an official North Korean Internet site, said in its editorial on Friday that U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Christopher Hill gave a "nasty" speech on the industrial complex for South Korean firms under construction in the North's border town of Kaesong.
Hill said on Monday that South Koreans placed an "awful big burden" on Kaesong by saying the project will help reform North Korea's economy and bring a brighter future for the nation.
The site said Hill's speech was "mean and haughty," claiming it was an attempt to pour cold water on the reconciliation and reunification between the two Koreas through the project.
"It is well known that the United States feels bad about the Kaesong project and does not wish for the cooperation process between the North and the South," it said.
"Though the Kaesong project was subjected to every kind of opposition actions by the U.S. from its early stages, it will be able to produce the first product soon by the Korean nation's will and effort for reunification," the site said.
