SEOUL, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - A ship with South Korean registry will be used for commercial trade with North Korea for the first time, officials said Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, a sand carrier from the domestic transportation company "Yusung Goljae" will pick up coastal sand from Heungnam port in North Korea and deliver it to the South Korean port cities of Busan, Donghae and Gwangyang.

Coastal sand is known to be used in 70 percent of the construction material in the Seoul metropolitan area.
