NEW DELHI, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - India has announced a grant of Rs. 30 million ($US661,959) to Uzbekistan for the promotion of information technology, as the two countries signed an accord to set up a joint centre for information technology (IT) at Tashkent.
The Memorandum of Understanding for establishing the Indo-Uzbek Centre for IT was signed by External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh and his Uzbek counterpart Sadik S Safayev here.
Under the MOU, India will provide a cooperation package involving technical expertise, supply of hardware, software and networking equipment and the training of Uzbek specialists in India.
Safayev, who called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, held extensive talks on a host of issues with Natwar Singh.
