THE eleventh ship in Costa Cruises' fleet, Costa Magica, was delivered at the weekend by Fincantieri at its Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, writes Sandra Speares.
Costa chief executive Pier Luigi Foschi said the delivery of a new ship was always an emotional event 'but this year the emotions become magical with a ship that is a tribute to some of Italy's most enchanting places'.
Mr Foschi also announced the name of the next Costa ship, Costa Concordia, which is due for delivery by Fincantieri in 2006 at a cost of €450m ($542m).
Fincantieri chief executive Giuseppe Bono said the Costa Magica's delivery 'consolidates our outstanding relationship with Costa'.
The ship's interiors have been designed by Joe Farcus, who has a long relationship with the Carnival group.
