BRITISH principal investor Gary Klesch is the so far unnamed party in talks to buy Aegon's 637,000-box lease container fleet, industry insiders believe.
Meanwhile, US bank Goldman Sachs is thought to be talking to the Dutch finan-cial services group aboutbuying its trailer rent business, which operates 18,000 trailers.
Aegon was on Friday maintaining its previous policy of refusing to name the parties involved in negotations until a deal is finally struck. Nor were either of the mooted buyers ready to talk.
But highly placed sources in the respective sectors seem in little doubt that Mr Klesch's firm Klesch ' Co and the Wall Street giant are the names in the frame.
That influential banker Mr Klesch has emerged as the main bidder for Transamerica Maritime Containers is unsurprising in view of his company's close involvement in transport leasing businesses.
