SARASOTA -- Although a disaster at the time, the fire that ravaged the Bijou Cafe several years ago had its good side.
From the ashes emerged a newly built restaurant, a commodious and tastefully decorated one suitable to its longtime central location in downtown Sarasota.
But the old heart beats in this new body. Despite the makeover, many of the old dishes remain. Devoted patrons can still look forward to the Shrimp Piri Piri, the Braised Lamb Shanks, the Pommes Gratin Dauphinois and other Bijou standards.
