PUNTA GORDA -- A deputy charged with killing her husband last week had been placed on administrative leave for improper dealings with an inmate, the sheriff said Thursday.
Kathleen Gilda Hill, 31, had been on leave for a week when she was charged with shooting her husband, Shawn Hill, a state forest ranger.
Sheriff's officials said Hill, an officer at the jail since 1999, gave candy to an inmate, whom authorities declined to identify Thursday. The allegation is part of criminal and internal affairs investigations into Hill's actions before the shooting.
