A recent rally in Atlanta was billed as a commemoration of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. But people who turned out expecting a celebration discovered that today's civil rights movement has little nice to say about anything.
In his speech to the marchers, singer Harry Belafonte referred to the United States as "the most dishonest, unGodly, unspiritual nation that ever existed in the history of the planet." He used the term "black tyrants" to describe African-American conservatives, and compared blacks working in the Bush administration to Jews working for Hitler's Third Reich.
