The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is sponsoring a project to implement a book's message of reform in college sports. William Bowen's book The Game of Life examines admissions, academics, and sports at elite colleges.
The foundation has gathered about 130 liberal arts colleges to work on the College Sports Project. The project will work on plans to ensure that coaches and athletics are integrated into campus life and athletes are academically representative of other students.
