Business Driver: Increasing Cash Flow

Club Car, a division of Ingersoll-Rand, and the world's largest golf and utility transportation vehicles manufacturer, was faced with the challenge of improving cash flow and reducing working capital costs. Its management team began an initiative to analyze their business processes to identify improvement opportunities.

Club Car determined that they needed an integrated solution to improve their accounts receivable processes. After a careful requirements determination, software selection and evaluation process, Club Car chose Cforia Software, Inc.'s product: M[C.sup.2] (Managing Credit & Collections).

Before M[C.sup.2], Club Car relied on a manual process of working from aging reports and spent too much time collecting past due accounts and resolving problems versus executing proactive collection strategies. "Our collectors were not making enough contact with customers because they were buried in administrative tasks," says Angle Arnold, Club Car's Director of Customer Financing.

The Challenge: Implementing the Right Solution

Club Car has a long-standing culture of technology innovation and excellence. Yet, like most companies, it relied on its existing financial systems to manage its cash assets. Unfortunately, all ERP systems on the market today provide minimal functionality and tools in the credit and collections area.

"We began this initiative because we felt that we could do a much better job of collecting receivables," said Arnold. To begin overhauling the collections process, Club Car analyzed the various steps in the cash flow life cycle to see which ones could be streamlined. It concluded that every part of the collections process--except for actually talking to the customer--had automation potential.
