Donna doesn't look that old, but claims she has I worked in credit "forever".
"Well, no," she admits: "not quite--but most of the last 30+ years."
Donna started attending NACM functions in the early '70s and joined CFDD in 1973. "By 1974," she says, "I was the company's NACM representative?
Like so many others working in credit, her entry into file credit field was unplanned. "My father hired me when I was 21 years old to work in the office of his small HVAC wholesale company. My modest previous experience had been in banking ... I honestly don't remember bow it was that I got into credit. It was just a matter of doing whatever the BOSS (Dad) asked me to do!"
As the company grew and she gained experience, she says, her responsibilities increased. "Dad sold our his interest in the company four years later, but I stayed on with the new owners. The company continued to grow and I gained more experience in credit, in accounting, and in financial management. I eventually advanced to become the Secretary-Treasurer of that company."
