INDIA'S BSNL TO INVEST US$2.18 BLN FOR EXPANSION OF CELL NETWORK
NEW DELHI - India's state-run BSNL has announced that over the next few months it will complete the proposed expansion of network of 15 million lines with an investment of Rs 100 billion(US$2.18 billion). Demand for its cellular services is growing and there is a shortage of SIM cards in some locations, with the company adding 600,000 new subscribers every month, according to BSNL CMD AK Sinha. He said that in some areas the roll-out plans are already being implemented, adding that BSNL has floated a tender for the network expansion.
