Communist rebels yesterday rejected President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's allegations that they had ties to international terrorists and accused the government of sabotaging peace negotiations by linking them to such groups.

The president said on Tuesday [19 October] Othere were "growing links between the revolutionary left and international terrorist organizations," and ordered a comprehensive reassessment of the government's strategy for dealing with the 35-year-old communist insurgency.
