Passengers had to jump to safety when a train burst into flames during a journey from Bristol to Weston-super-Mare.

Last night's 8.06pm Wessex Trains service from Temple Meads caught fire near Nailsea and Backwell station in North Somerset, a few minutes after leaving Bedminster station.

The passengers who could see flames on board jumped to safety after opening a door. No one was badly injured but three people needed treatment for smoke inhalation.
