GOP Expands Goals Bill Frist et al., A Safer World and a More Hopeful America, August 2004 (gop.org)

The Republican Party's 2004 platform was not released until the convention's opening in New York City, underscoring its emphasis on correcting the national failures that led to the Manhattan skyline's open wound on 9/11. The platform's largest section, "Winning the War on Terror," firmly endorses the USA Patriot Act and other Bush security legislation, pledges to secure America's borders and sovereignty, and promotes Bush's "Forward Strategy of Freedom" which calls on the U.S. to support democracy and reform in the Middle East.
