1. Kevin Everett, 6-6, 251, Miami. Athletic tight end with all the tools, but isn't in the same class as Kellen Winslow (Browns) or Jeremy Shockey (Giants), who preceded him at Miami. Didn't get a lot of playing time before this year because of Winslow's presence. Has a big body and long arms. Catches ball pretty well. Is a position blocker with some tenacity.
2. Alex Smith, 6-5, 255, Stanford. Somewhat athletic and can catch pretty well. Doesn't have great speed but has a knack for getting open. Position blocker. Needs to improve consistency.
3. Joel Dreessen, 6-4, 260, Colorado State. Hands are his best attribute. Can catch the ball away from his body. Pretty solid overall. Isn't overly athletic, has so-so speed and is somewhat robotic in his movements. Average blocker.
4. Alex Holmes, 6-3, 270, USC. Blocking specialist who can knock defensive ends into the secondary. Plays with tenacity. Has good bulk but below-average height. Has marginal quickness and change of direction. Is strictly a possession receiver.
5. Cody McCarty, 6-4, 260, TCU. Muscular, good-sized position blocker. Former quarterback who can catch the ball. Has had some production. ...
