these days, the most important stop Jason Keller makes each week before going to the racetrack is the dry cleaners. "I've to make sure I've got all my firesuits and logo shirts in the motor home and remember who it is I'm representing each week."
That sums up the challenge facing Keller, who's 34 and an 1-year veteran of NASCAR's Busch Series, and his ppc Racing team this season. Next season? The challenge is even more daunting: Keller is not only looking for a sponsor, but he's looking for a team. Ppc told him last week he was free to find a new ride; ppc's only plans now are to run a limited Busch schedule with John Andretti during. Andretti also will drive ppc's full-time Cup entry.
"I've been told that they're still looking for a sponsor for the Busch car, and I assume that's the case and hope that's the case" Keller says. "But I am a realist. It's late in the game, and they have a lot of effort going into their Cup program."
Ppc has dominated the Busch Series the past few years with Jeff Green, Scott Riggs and Keller pushing a well-oiled machine forward. But this year, Keller is driving ppc's only Busch car, the No. 22 Ford. He had sponsorship from Miller High Life for 20 races and a patchwork of sponsors the rest of the season.
