* I agree with Kara Yorio (TSN, October 11); we shouldn't label NHL players as greedy. I don't think most of them are. But I think they are the ones who must compromise, as fixing salaries to revenue is a reasonable request. The players' position is the equivalent of the owners imposing a hard salary cap, regardless of revenue. Though it might not be the players' fault hockey is in this mess, it's their responsibility to fix it.

* Perhaps Kara Yorio (TSN, October 11) is correct; greedy is too strong a term for the players. How about plain stupid? What else would you call it when a player takes the attitude that "I'd rather play in Europe for 10 percent of what I'm making now, or even not play at all," instead of working out an amicable agreement where they would still would make an obscene amount of money tied to revenue?
