FLYING in the face of conventional thinking is the notion that warm season grasses such as Sir Walter, not cool season lawn grasses like the traditional tall fescue- based lawns, are best for Canberra's environment. Production manager for Turf The Lot, Mr Chris Cuddy, said, ''warm climate grasses have more efficient water use than cool climate grasses and in light of the stage three water restrictions, householders need to consider the drought-resistant properties of the lawns they are planting.''
