MANILA - The leadership of the House committee on transportation on Tuesday urged the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) to compel the Philippine International Air Terminals Co. (PIATCO) and Takenaka, the Japanese firm contracted by PIATCO, to ensure the full safety of NAIA Terminal 3 following the collapse of a portion of its ceiling Monday.
Reps. Monico Puentevella (Bacolod City) and Federico Samdoval ll (Malabon-Navotas) issued the call as they expressed concern that the accident was an indication of substandard construction within the airport facility.
