BRISBANE, March 29 Asia Pulse - Cyclone-ravaged far north Queensland is a volatile "powder keg" likely to explode if victims do not receive enough help, according to federal Independent MP Bob Katter.
While the Innisfail and Tableland region continued the clean-up today, rain from the remnants of Cyclone Larry caused widespread flooding in the Gulf country, with residents bracing themselves for crop and stock losses.
Estimates have put the damage at well over $A1 billion ($US703.75 million), along with widespread job losses, including 4,000 from the banana industry.
