Dermatologists nationwide had more than one reason to celebrate during the recent holidays-increased Medicare reimbursement for phototherapy treatment and the issuance of carrier instructions for paying for removal of actinic keratoses.
The carrier instructions for reimbursing for actinic keratoses (AK) removal became effective at the end of November, 4 months after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services published a new national coverage policy on the topic.
