CANBERRA, March 28 Asia Pulse - The government has attempted to convince Australians its new workplace laws will help their hip pocket, despite a poll showing many believe the changes will hurt workers.

The coalition's long-anticipated new industrial regime took full effect Monday, but unions tried to sour the celebrations.

The ACTU flagged another mass rally to protest against the industrial changes, as it released a poll showing almost 70 per cent of respondents believed the laws would give too much power to employers.
