Prior to WWII, Joseph Goebbels, that arch-Nazi, taught the world that if you tell a lie, and tell it big enough and often enough, it will be taken for truth.
At the same time, the Japanese used the words "Japanese East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" to lay the groundwork for oppression. Hiding behind those words was Japan's murderous intention to forcibly govern China and other neighboring countries.
Those lessons have not been lost on the politicians of the world.
When the communists decided to impose their rule upon some country, they called it "national liberation," and they called their propagandists, ground troops, and other supporters in that country a "National Liberation Front."
